Just make sure to <strong>block off any busy times in your synced calendar <\/strong>and Paperbell will take care of the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your &#8220;publish&#8221; calendar is where client appointments booked by Paperbell will appear on your connected calendar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Client View<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Want to know how your availability interacts with your synced calendars? They book a time for two weeks in the future right when you\u2019re normally available, Wednesday afternoon . . . and the day before, you realize that you\u2019ve volunteered for a school field trip that day and can\u2019t make the call! D\u2019oh!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to make sure you know all the tricks to nail your Paperbell setup so that <em>never<\/em> happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most important thing to understand is that your true availability lives in your Google Calendar, <em>not <\/em>in Paperbell. (If you use a different system, <a href=\"https:\/\/paperbell.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/integration-with-other-online-calendars\/\">you\u2019ll need to sync it up with Google Cal<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is key: <strong>sync up alllll of the calendars that truly reflect your schedule with Paperbell<\/strong>. That means when you look through <a href=\"https:\/\/app.paperbell.com\/provider\/account\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">your calendar settings<\/a>, sync up<em> everything <\/em>so that if you&#8217;re unavailable, you are not going to be scheduled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you have one calendar just for your monthly book club, another calendar for your personal trainer workouts, and another for your daughter\u2019s doctor appointments. SYNC IT ALL!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What you DON\u2019T want to sync is all the \u201cFYI\u201d junk that\u2019s on there but that doesn\u2019t actually reflect your availability (think your partner\u2019s flights for work, or teenager\u2019s test deadlines).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the way, if you keep your schedule across multiple Google accounts, <a href=\"https:\/\/paperbell.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/how-do-i-sync-more-than-one-calendar-to-paperbell\/\">here\u2019s how to get them all into Paperbell<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Free\/Busy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out this very small setting on your Google Calendar:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"603\" height=\"595\" src=\"https:\/\/paperbell.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/free-busy-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/paperbell.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/free-busy-1.png 603w, https:\/\/paperbell.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/free-busy-1-300x296.png 300w, https:\/\/paperbell.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/free-busy-1-50x50.png 50w, https:\/\/paperbell.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/free-busy-1-60x60.png 60w, https:\/\/paperbell.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/free-busy-1-100x100.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 603px) 100vw, 603px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>That setting is actually super important, because if you are marked as \u201cfree\u201d Paperbell will still think you\u2019re available for booking. (This also is a great hack for putting things on your Cal that mean you\u2019re actually <em>available<\/em>, like when the babysitter is over. Just mark the event as \u201cfree.\u201d)<br><br>Here\u2019s where things get weird: if you have an \u201call day\u201d event, Google marks you as free by default. This means that if you put an all day event like \u201cTRAVELING TO GREECE DON\u2019T BOOK ME\u201d Google will actually mark you as \u201cfree\u201d! Find that Busy\/Free dropdown and change it to &#8220;Busy&#8221; to actually keep it blocked off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf34 OK, this free\/busy thing brings us to our next major point to nailing availability perfection &#8211; how to handle one-off stuff and vacations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend messing with your Paperbell availability as little as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What you DON\u2019T want to do is go into Paperbell every week and tell it when you\u2019re available. Instead, you want to have regular availability that is cancelled out by what you have going on that week.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\ud83d\uded1 DON\u2019T: Look at your upcoming week and say \u201cOK I\u2019ve got Monday afternoon free and Thursday morning, and looks like I\u2019m open all day Friday\u201d and then make all that your Paperbell availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udfc1 DO: Instead, you want to use Paperbell availability for your \u201cregular\u201d times. (Which kinda forces you to actually think about when those regular times should be AKA time-blocking your client hours! Winning all around.)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So you would tell Paperbell that you want to talk to clients in the mornings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and all day Friday. (By the way, you can offer different availability for different packages! <a href=\"https:\/\/paperbell.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/creating-multi-session-packages-for-clients\/\">Here\u2019s how<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then when you have other conflicts during your regular hours, Paperbell pulls them in from Google Calendar automatically.
